SUMMARY:Inside The Indie
DESCRIPTION:Playing music for others can be the most rewarding experience
and also one of great frustration. Inside the Indie shows the perspecti
ve most commonly overlooked\; the musicians perspective. From street mus
icians describing what it is like playing on the side of the streets day
in and day out to musicians who do it for a hobby\, all were asked thei
r opinions on music. Musicians in the Pacific Northwest shared their bes
t experiences playing live and also their worst. They attempted to descr
ibe the feeling that forces them to create their art\, and how frustrati
ng it can be when out of a crowd of 20\, no one is truly listening to th
eir most personal songs. They also explain how rewarding it can be just
playing for one attentive person. This is not an independent vs. mainstr
eam music documentary. This is a documentary about art vs. entertainment
. It is an underdog story\, and showcases how an artist has to work to g
et their music heard. \n Awarded the STIFFY for Garage Band Award Gen

SUMMARY:High Society: A Pot Boiler
DESCRIPTION:High Society: A Pot Boiler\, written and directed by award-wi
nning author Kristian Davies\, is an acerbic\, raucous comedy carefully
crafted in the rich ‘stoner tradition.’ The primary appeal is for the ac
 tive\, movie going\, 17-to-30-year-old age group\, but the acid-tongued\
, rapid-fire conversation taps a deeper\, smarter dialogue that will gra
b the more open-minded older viewers. \n\nThe story occurs in the apartm
ent of TRAJAN\, GAVIN\, and YAKOB during the course of one long evening.
The focus is uniquely upon comically insulting and provocative dialogue
as each of the heroes and heroines struggle to retain their dignity and
protect their innermost insecurities. Gradually\, telling observations
and truths are revealed. TRAJAN\, the provocateur of the roommates\, ami
d a continuous barrage of insults\, profanity and bong hits\, is forced
to defend his unwillingness to ‘face the world’ and get a job. GAVIN\, o
ur modestly employed ladies’ man\, just can’t take the last step of forc
ing TRAJAN to become employed because TRAJAN is his primary source of ni
ghtly amusement. Laughter triumphs over income. YAKOB\, the insecure\, n
ever-can-get-a-woman member of the musketeers\, simply tries to stay afl
oat. Our lady guests SOPHIE and SVETLANA are completely out of their ele
ment\, stunned\, puzzled\, and eventually amused by the continuous antic
s\, ultimately accepting them. Eventually they are seduced into imbibing
in the evening’s wide range of refreshments. High Society: A Pot Boiler
takes the viewer on a hazy journey with very stylish smoking imagery\,
with all its poetic and ballet-like qualities\, set to a world-class mus
ic score & soundtrack.\n Awarded the STIFFY for Most Obnoxious Use of M

SUMMARY:Off Off Broadway
DESCRIPTION:"Off Off Broadway" is a scathing satire of avant-garde theate
r production. The aspiring but clueless and egomaniacal director hires a
cast of naive New York acting students to stage his 6-hour long play\,
which has only pre-recorded voices while the actors move about the high
contrast stage in crypto-meaningful gestures\, expressing the director's

 \, it is hilarious\, perfectly skewering so-called "avant-garde" perform

DESCRIPTION:On November 9th in 1982\, on a New York City street\, Silvia
Baraldini was jumped by eight members of the FBI terrorist task force an
d brought into custody during a sweep of the radical left. Silvia was t

relentlessly to expose repressive policies of the U.S. government. In
1983\, using an array of tactics\, the government put an end to the alli
ance. Silvia was convicted of helping to free Black Panther\, Assata Sh
akur from prison and received a 43-year sentence. Baraldini speaks with
an almost religious integrity\, focused on essential beliefs and princi
ples. Her insistence on justice for the oppressed transcends politics\,
so does her personal suffering. After seventeen years in U.S. prisons\
, in 1999\, following a ten-year campaign culminating in one million Ita
lian signatures\, Silvia won the right to serve out the remainder of her
sentence in her homeland\, Italy and was transferred to Rebbibia prison
